From 11:00am-Noon we will be giving out food and VSEA swag to all members who can attend. At noon we will start our Chapter Annual Meeting. At our meeting, we will be discussing any and all issues members are facing in our worksites! This is your chance to bring up issues you want to see addressed, ask questions about our contract, or just listen and learn about what’s going on at your union!\nWe also will be holding elections for all elected positions in our chapter. Below is a description of all offices:\nPresident: Chapter presidents are responsible for organizing at least four chapter meetings a year, including an annual meeting. You must run those meetings in accordance with Roberts Rules of Order, make sure your chapter follows your bylaws, and help recruit new members in your chapter. You will not be alone! Other members of your chapter will help, and you will have a staff organizer assigned to assist you! Chapter Presidents are all also VSEA Council members.\nVice President: Takes over for the president if they step down or are absent from a meeting. Clerk: Takes notes at each meeting, and brings a typed copy of those notes to the next meeting for review.\nTreasurer: Each chapter is given funds to spend on their members. The treasurer’s job is to keep track of those funds, spend them when approved, and give a treasurer’s report to members at each chapter meeting. You will work with VSEA’s finance director, no prior financial experience is required.\nCouncil Member: Council members attend four council meetings per year and vote on important union issues. Your job is to attend those meetings, represent your members, and to report back to your chapter. Learn more about VSEA Council here.\nBring your coworkers, encourage union engagement, and learn more about your union, VSEA!
